Upcycled New England maple serving board

Product images of 21" Spalted Maple Serving Board

The maple tree is beloved throughout New England for it’s wood, syrup and vibrant fall foliage. Maple wood is characterized by a smooth grain and unique light color. We upcycle fallen maple trees that are in the early stages of decomposition to get remarkable spalted lines running throughout the wood. Each board is a unique masterpiece of nature. Our spalted maple boards are sustainably sourced, upcycled, and handcrafted in New England.

Our oval boards have a rough, soy stained edge and an oval shape. They make wonderful cutting boards and beautiful displays for breads, cheeses and charcuterie.

About the Brand - Peterman’s Boards and Bowls
Peterman’s Boards and Bowls offers a handcrafted collection of wooden salad bowls and server sets, perfect for thoughtful gifting or everyday use in the kitchen. Each piece is made by hand in their Western Massachusetts workshop using sustainably and locally sourced wood, finished with all-natural, food-safe materials.

Guided by a commitment to upcycling, the Peterman family transforms discarded and decaying logs—often overlooked by tree service companies—into beautiful, functional works of art. The natural character of each log is embraced, resulting in one-of-a-kind bowls and boards with rich texture and story. Sourced from the forests of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont, their materials are as local as their legacy.

Spencer Peterman, a master craftsman and artist, leads the process, breathing new life into each piece of wood. The brand proudly carries on a tradition of New England craftsmanship, rooted in sustainability and the timeless charm of the farmhouse kitchen.
